artSpark Youth Program

The Diller-Von Furstenberg Family Foundation's extraordinary generosity established artSpark providing after-school art programs for elementary school children in recreation centers throughout Los Angeles.

This new unique initiative introduces youth to “Art Around the Globe” in free workshops. The curriculum teaches cultures from every continent of the world through drawing, painting, collage, print-making, and sculpting. Different media are explored while experimenting with a variety of visual techniques to build basic skills and to expand creative expression.

"Art Around the Globe” sites have included Bellevue Rec Center, Cheviot Hills Rec Center, Evergreen Rec Center, Highland Park Rec Center, Mar Vista Rec Center, Pecan Rec Center, State Street Rec Center.

“Barnsdall Arts in the Park program has had a huge impact within our community and has been a great asset to State Street Recreation Center. I would strongly recommend this program and we look forward to collaborating with them during our upcoming school year.” - Maritza Guzman, Recreation Coordinator
